The quality of Bösendorfer instruments is determined by several factors: we use only the best quality wood which bears the hallmark of regular, closely spaced annual rings. This wood is stored and completely seasoned for at least five years before we use it for production.

The cast iron frame has to pass the strictest tolerance tests before being stored in the open for six months, when it is then ready to be used for production. The piano's rim is made of solid spruce and beech: glued joints ensure that the sound transmission is maximised. The soundboard bridges are still cut by hand today, as they have always been, and this process requires the upmost concentration and years of experience to complete.

All the steel strings are individually fitted with a hand-turned loop which again shows the attention to detail we pride ourselves in, and is another indicator of the quality of Bösendorfer instruments.

Of particular importance to the quality of Bösendorfer pianos is the years of experience and accomplished craftsmanship of those who accompany our instruments through production. Their work is governed by care, precision and sensitivity - all essential factors to achieve the best musical performance.

There are certain makes of grand pianos, which like your car, have to be exchanged and updated every few years. But if you have the desire to find a companion for the rest of your lif, a friend, who musically inspires you, then a Bösendorfer grand piano certainly is the answer. In generations to come, when your children and grandchildren sit down to play the superb Bösendorfer instrument, they will remember you with pride.
